In an effort to raise awareness to help save babies’ lives, photographer Seth Casteel has release his Photo Album Book “Underwater Babies”. While there may be some concern that the safety of the babies is at risk in these photos, that is actually not the case at all. In fact, far from simply being photographs that are just cute, these photographs represent a program that teaches young babies self-rescue in case of an emergency!
Based upon the fact that drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children in the United States ranging from ages 1-4, this program was designed to teach babies to “swim” in a manner of speaking. Carefully supervised, the babies are taught to kick their feet, hold their breath, and turn over onto their backs in order to float. Helping to develop these types of instincts could drastically reduce the number of accidental drownings for young children.
But the cuteness factor for these babies who are being plunged into the water in order to learn how to swim? It’s incredibly adorable!
