In fact, they wore the same clothes and had the same toys, and friends. Growing up as triplets meant that they weren’t recognized in the same way as individuals. Being identical meant it was hard for everyone to tell them apart.

Model good looks tripled, the Dahm charmers were on their way to being cast by Playboy, too, and ready to stun the world with their unique beauty.

Playboy was looking for “Girls of the Big Ten special edition.’ and the triplets decided to go for it. Would they make it?
The Naked Truth
Were they ready for the big time? Ready to pose naked? Together? The casting agent at Playboy soon learned they were identical triplets. It was decision time. Life, for Nicole, Jaclyn, and Erica, would never be the same. Modeling for Playboy meant a test shoot first, and their stars were shining brightly. They would become the first triplet centerfolds for Playboy. Triple Power.

He made some funny jokes…and from then on I couldn’t fight it. It was love at first sight.” The stars were aligned for Erica, the middle triplet, and Jay. It was time to meet The Doctors.
Doctors, Nurses, And DNA
While the triplets may have ended their nursing careers, they were about to enter the medical world once again. Jay McGraw is one of the executive producers for the popular talk show, The Doctors. The talk show features a panel of acclaimed doctors, who discuss general, and more specialized, health and medical concerns, in front of a live audience. Meeting Jay McGraw, and the doctors, was going to change their lives forever.
Love Match, DNA Match
Erica Dahm and Jay McGraw tied the knot in 2006. It wasn’t long before the triplets began to feature on the popular daytime talk show. They became regular guests, and there was a great public interest in their triplet lifestyle. The triplets chatted about the health issue, like nutrition, and fertility, as well as motherhood. The Doctors were curious to test a theory that they had.
The Doctors ratings climbed sky high when all three sisters became pregnant at the same time From 2009, to 2010, the show’s growth rocketed too. Three was a charm it seemed, and three new Dahm babies were on the way. Sharing their lives, and sharing their pregnancies, brought Erica, Jaclyn, and Nicole even closer together. The Doctors and audience were amazed – and wanted to know more.
The Triplet Bond, or Luck?

All three triplets were pregnant within weeks, of each other, and all three sisters gave birth to little girls, in 2010. The sisters settled down, into married life, raising their little princesses, and in March 2017 The Doctors approached them with a strange request.
The Ancestry DNA Test
Teaming up with an investigative journalist, the experts wanted to test the triplets and see how accurate DNA ancestry tests are. The producers of the show, including Jay McGraw, were shocked by the results. Journalist Lisa Guerrero, from Inside Edition, also featured on the show. The tests are home tests, and commonly available. In March 2017, the Dahm sisters had agreed to be tested.
What Is Your Ethnicity?
Advancements made in DNA science means that it’s possible to track your family ancestry. Websites and companies offer home testing kits which are relatively cheap and simple to use. eg. Ancestry.com and 23andMe. `There has been a global interest in tracking down your family roots, across continents, and more and more people, have given their DNA to these companies.
Unique Generic Markers
Companies who test your DNA use your saliva to extract your DNA, and look at unique genetic markers. This information can reveal your ancestry and is also used to track down long lost relatives. In order for the triplets to learn about their ancestry, they had to give three samples, of their saliva, to a company.
Identical Triplets, Identical Results?
The triplets were the perfect test subjects – all three share the same genetic material, and, in theory, the results should be identical too. After a few short weeks, the results would be ready. The reliability of the tests was being tested by The Doctors and Lisa Guerrero. Would their results be the same?
Expect The Unexpected
Life had been a series of unexpected surprises for the triplets. From their teen modeling success to trying out for Playboy, and going to LA. They had planned to become nurses, and never expected to become stars, or ever imagined posing nude for Playboy. They were a long way from small town life, and Jordan, Minnesota. They also never expected to be on The Doctors or to see what their DNA test would reveal.
Strange Findings Or Not?
The tests from 23andme showed that Nicole, Erica, and Jaclyn, are identical. In fact, the triplets are so alike that their fingerprints can even fool modern technology – Erica can open her sister, Nicole’s safe!
The second Test Needed
With identical DNA, their common heritage should be the same too. The experts needed a second test which would show the origin, and provide more information about the countries. The Triplets DNA should show the same genetic heritage, shouldn’t it?
The test shows that 99% of their DNA showed a common European heritage, but a more specific breakdown showed strange differences. Nicole was 18% British and Irish, but Nicole, the second triplet, was only 16% British and Irish. How could this be, surely the sisters should share common ancestry, as they share DNA?
Looking at the French and German heritage, and results of the 23andme test, was also very odd. Nicole, the oldest triplet, was 11% German and French, Jaclyn was 18% and Erica was 22.3%. This huge discrepancy did not match up.the Dahm triplets shares DNA should mean commonly shared ancestry. What was going on?
Once again, looking further into the Scandinavian heritage, that the triplets should share, the results just did not add up. Erica and Jaclyn were a perfect match at 7.4% but Nicole was 11.4%. Why were the figures all different?
Nothing Makes Sense
“I’m surprised because we come from the same egg and we have the same DNA.” Nicole Dahm was the first to comment, and her words reflect the problem with these tests. Dr. Travis Stork echoed this view. The surprising results prove only one thing – these tests are not accurate, at all, and should not be considered as real evidence. They are purely entertaining, and not good science.
How Accurate Are These Tests?
“I think the answer here is that we’ve come so far in terms of genetic testing, but, that you can’t just spit in a cup and have every single answer that you are looking for.” Dr. Travis Stork was very clear, explaining that the saliva test is not accurate enough to really show your ancestry. What would Ms. Guerro think?
What Traits Would The Test Show
Lisa Guerrero admitted that she had some reservations about the accuracy of the tests. “It’s piqued my curiosity. I know I’m Latina on my Mom’s side and English on my Dad’s side, but I wanna know how much.” The tests can reveal your heritage, but the accuracy is still in question.
Speak To Your Doctor
It’s natural to be curious about your ancestry, and The Doctors recommend that more detailed testing will give you a more accurate picture. These types of simple saliva tests are very popular though, and the best result will be revealed with more professional testing. “I’m going to spend a bit more money and do it with a doctor to find out what the real results are. But isn’t it interesting!” Lisa Guerrero shared with the talk show hosts.
Jaclyn, Erica, and Nicole had always been interested in health, and medicine. Their interest in medicine went back to their college days, and their ambitions to enter the medical field. They were curious too, and very interested in DNA testing, and eager to see the results. In March 2017, the results were revealed on a live show of The Doctors.
The Dahm sisters helped to spread awareness of DNA testing. The triplets had come a long way from posing nude for Playboy and their days as teen queen models. The triplets never expected to be astonished by their DNA results, and neither did the producers of the show or the host doctors. They were surprised by the results, Where are the Dahm Triplets now?
Inseparable Lives, All The Same
