SNL’s done it again, and this time they poke holes at the sexism of generic Super Bowl food ads.
The ad portrays the standard guy Super Bowl party with friends, beer, and good food. The host’s wife of course is serving them, and waiting anxiously in the kitchen for when needed. Pretty typical of sport themed food advertisements right? Well, SNL gives it a spin and shows us the wife’s point of view for a change.
“My hungry guys aren’t the only ones having fun today. With my Super Bowl Activity Pack for Women, I can spin a top, connect the dots, count my money, and plenty of other activities I can drop at a moment’s notice.”
I don’t know about you, but I know plenty of women very much into sports. Besides being quite the gut buster, this commercial really strikes at some of the ongoing stereotypes in American society. Keep on laughing SNL; I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
