Lady Gaga and fiance Taylor Kinney have decided to take a break from their relationship. Lady Gaga confirmed the split on Instagram on Wednesday, urging fans to root for them, which means the split may not be permanent.
“Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples, we have had ups and downs, and we have been taking a break,” she said in the post.
The pair, normally known for their displays of affection, haven’t been seen together recently on their social media profiles or at any recent events. Gaga, 30, has been spotted without her engagement ring in the last week. Kinney and Gaga were last photographed together in April.
The two began dating five years ago just after they met filming Gaga’s “You and I” video, in which Kinney played her love interest. Kinney is best known for his role on the show “Chicago Fire.” They began dating a few months later and broke up briefly in the summer of 2012 for one month. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2015 but never announced a wedding date.
A source says the pair drifted apart due to the time they spend away from each other because of their busy schedules. Gaga owns a home in Malibu while Kinney, 35, is living in Chicago while he films for “Chicago Fire.”
In 2013, Gaga opened up to Howard Stern about how they made their long-distance relationship work, saying they were “gypsies” on their own journies but very much in love.
Gaga is currently vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, and friends. She was spotted on the beach without her engagement ring. She is rumored to be preparing a new album to be released by the end of the year. On Monday, she posted a video on her Twitter page of herself singing “Born This Way” to children in a foster home in Mexico.
Fans are holding out hope that the pair will get back together. They wouldn’t be the first celebrity couple to split and get together again. Just last week, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were photographed together at a restaurant despite their on-again, off-again relationship over the last six years.
